Introduction

Map showing a distributed network of edge servers

A CDN (Content Delivery Network) is a distributed network of servers that’s used to deliver web content to users efficiently. This is done by caching content on edge servers in locations that are close to the end users, to minimize latency.

The benefits of using Azure CDN to deliver web site assets include:

  • Better performance and improved user experience
  • Large scaling to better handle instantaneous high loads
  • Reduce traffic to origin servers
